A coenzyme, not a peptide

Although it appears alongside peptides in the catalog, this material is a coenzyme. Its oxidized and reduced forms, and the way an assay measures them, are central to understanding the research.

A different class of research compound

The reference structure is a dinucleotide rather than a chain of amino acid residues. The plus notation identifies the oxidized coenzyme convention. It should not be described with a peptide sequence simply because it is sold in a vial beside peptide products.

A 2001 Cell paper examined an NAD-dependent deacetylase in cellular experiments. It is one example of research extending beyond the coenzyme’s classical role in redox reactions to its involvement as a substrate in other enzyme systems.

Specify which form the assay measures

The oxidized and reduced forms are distinct chemical states. An assay reporting a total pool, a ratio or one state is answering a different question. Preserve that distinction when comparing source results or planning a material record.

A reference formula describes a particular chemical form. Salt composition and hydration can affect supplied-material mass, so compare the stated form rather than assuming every reported molecular weight uses the same basis.

The vial listing and the premixed spray use separate product records. For the liquid, total volume and total labeled material are different measurements. Check which units are used in the report before comparing it with a vial amount.
